Sorry i can't link it but my browser lists it only as www.reddwarf.co.ukLook under cast round up on page 1 and read Doug's (long) letter. Although he seems very excited about the 'progress' I found it hugely disheartening. Like when Red Dwarf first made an appearance the movie seems to be getting rejected by everyone. US film companies will only accept it if the original cast are replaced by an American crew. Yeah right, the tried it for the show and it didn't work. Failing that they wanted Hugh Grant and his ilk to play the crew. NO WAY. The originals or no film. For those who can't be bothered to read the letter it tells of x amount of rejection stories, deals falling flat or just wind ups from people offering $60,000,000 to fund the film and turning out to be frauds. Doug ends by saying progress has been made and he's hugely excited but I'm not convinced. The overall tone of the letter doesn't exactly fill me with confidence.

Qucik add on. Chris mentioned that Rimmer would have a love interest in the film. I see IMDB have Nirvanah Crane listed as set to make an appearance. Unfortunately not played by Jane Horrocks but someone called Leila Johnson.

Indeed it does not so I don't know why Doug is 'hugely excited'

i have said it before and i will say it again , it would be better if they forgot about about the movie and do one more series.

Wasn't Rimmer meant to have a love interest as well or something? Ugh... That'd be dodgy, they should keep it the same style as the series... None of this lovey-dovey stuff... Comedy/Adventure - now that rocks

My speciality. ;D Well, actually...it's more angst/adventure with romance on VERY rare occasions...perhaps with a little comedy in before the main story...or some sarcastic comments....shutup Laura.

so did anyone copy and paste this letter? because i can't seem to bring it up now There's now a search engine on the site since Christmas-- has anyone tried that to find the letter? If not, I'd be happy to give it a go searching. It was part of one of Andrew's DJ reports, wasn't it? Edit: Yep, that's where the letter was. Here's a link to it.

I would love there to be a movie. I found the letter to be more hearttening than disheartening, maybe it was just the way he'd written it. I can see how it would depress people though. Think of how much of a spaz we'd all chuck if the movie did come out though. All wrapped up on opening night crowding to see it.
