Ok... I see on the official site that there is currently a contest for the fans to create and submit fanfilms (which I occassionaly like to make, had a few on IFilm) but I note that the contest is linited to UK residents ONLY...no explanation to why this is is provided, and I have to say that I think its smeggin' annoying!... I mean, there are fans of RD ALL OVER THE PLANET, so why limit which fans can submit their efforts? This is very annoying! K

Yeah, it's a blower, but I can't do it either, even if I am from the UK...
Unfortunately, for legal reasons you will see that we have been obliged to include some additional regulations - including the restricting of entrants to UK residents over the age of 13 years. We would like to apologise for this necessity and sincerely hope that this doesn't cause too much disappointment to fans who are younger/foreign/both.

What are they attempting to do, alienate MOST of their fans? And how many 'under 13' year olds make films?? Sounds like they are a tad on the 'lazy side', not wanting to have to sift thru too many entries!... K

Well they do mention 'legal reasons'... so maybe there are things they can and can't do... And time might be an issue. Would you really want to sift through a bazillion entries to choose a winner?

Does it say anything about under 13-year-olds entering with over 13-year-olds? Coz then maybe we could enter as a forum. Yah know, maybe some fanart or something on webcams and edited together. Not only would that get us lot famous (lol) but it would also publicise the forum alot. It sounds like a longshot, but if it is entered by a UK fan over the age of 13 (eg. me) but as a group effort, it may get chosen.
Only an idea.
Lol, I should have posted this in the suggestions forum. Ah, well. Just looked helpful here.

...But a good one! Look into the rules of the contest, see what they specify...maybe we could team up, you help me with the project (I wanted to do a Disney style animated short comedy, could use help with editing and voice stuff!)...if a 'team up' is allowed, let me know...and we can start work on everything! (Whens the deadline, by the way??)
Thanks! K

The closing date is May 31st. A problem - "Entrants under 18 years of age must have their Entry/Release Form countersigned by a parent or guardian." Not sure if as a team we'd be allowed to just have one member's parent's signature. Have to see about that...
Well, first we need to get this idea approved by SE. Then we need to see who wants to help, then we need to decide on what we're going to do. Then we just need to contribute our individual pieces of work, send them to a trusted member to compile them, then get a UK member over the age of 13 (preferably over 18) to send it.
EDIT: Noooo!!! " Only one fan may enter the Competition and be named on the Fan Film, no joint entries between two or more people will be accepted. If a fan has worked with any other person in creating their Fan Film, it is the fan's responsibility to ensure that they have the necessary permissions to give the details of any other person and to use their work."

If a fan has worked with any other person in creating their Fan Film, it is the fan's responsibility to ensure that they have the necessary permissions to give the details of any other person and to use their work." Looks like that addition EDIT has spoken the final word on the topic...;( Too bad...I must admit sincere disapointment with the folks at RD for limiting the contestants as they have to such a young age and only the UK...pity, as the show has fans worldwide, and this sort of thinking just alienates them... The creators should be grateful for ALL their fans, and be open to all of their participation/interest in a contest or event of this nature...by excluding anyone NOT in the great UK, they are sending a message (whether intentional or not!) that states 'We dont care much for, or consider important, the interest of anyone else'... Pity, I do artwork/toons/animation for a living, and I can envision a GREAT RD short (about 5 min or so) in fully animated format, complete with cool SFX, music, etc, etc....;( K
