It'd be cool if they did... Might have to keep an eye on the official RD site for updates on the future DVDs...

LOL that's only because you're so used to seeing the UK version though But yeah, I would have thought it'd be dodgy anyway, regardless...

Hey, d'ya think they'll include the US pilots in the bonus section of one of the DVDs? I hope so! Unfortunately, due to all kinds of legal mumbo jumbo, the BBC/ G&N have no rights to these episodes, and whichever studio made them is keeping them locked away. It would be interesting to see, but I am glad it never made it because I could not image it being any good. Just cannot replace the orig. cast! One good US remake has been "Who's Line is it Anyway?" Rarely seen, (they show it in spurts), but gosh is it good! I cannot think of anything (other than a new RD episode ), that I would chose to watch over it. I have never seen the US come up with a comedy (well, I guess Steal a comedy), that was so consistantly good! It's amazing how many of our citizens are TV junkies...no wonder the world laughs at us!

Friends was a good US comedy. Then again, I suppose you can't really compare it to RD as Friends is an American domestic comedy set in the big city, whereas Red Dwarf is a British sci-fi comedy set in space.
Slightly different...

LOL I grew tired of Friends as well Drew Carey was a lot funnier, but I've seen a recent episode and Kate wasn't in it Annnyway... Locked away is where those US RD episodes should stay... either that or burnt I have to agree, that the US Whose Line is really funny... But that's coz the Drew Crew (hehe) is in charge Ryan and Colin are the best duo... but Wayne is my favourite overall, especially with the songs and impersonations...

That show literally has me rolling on the floor sometimes ;D And Wayne can Sing; that man has a beautiful voice! He had his own show for a bit, never got to see it though. I think Drew scored the best job taking his "host" position ~ what fun! Did you see the one (aired recently, at least here), with, crud, I Cannot remember his name! How can I forget Ah well, the super, er, friendly workout guru? Sweatin' to the oldies superman. Anyway, That had to be one of the best! They spent the first half making jokes about him, then low and behold he comes out as a guest! The things he did...oi! Quite good.

Guess Im in the minority here, but I was expecting a LOT worse! Finally was able to download the 250MB AVI file on Limewire (took four days at 56k!) and I have to say...it wasnt that bad! The guy that played Lister was ok, altho a completely DIFFERENT take on the character (hell, even the original actors stated they were suprised at how well the 'new' USA cast did!) and with Robert L onboard as Kryten, it was actually...ok!... Hell, if it had been 'picked up to go to series', I would have given it a chance...it IS related to RD, after all! True, its pale compared to the original but I have to admit to being pleasantly suprised! K

By the way, if anyone is still looking for places to download this unaired pilot... bitzi.com/lookup/J6JOOPEEN7TFLSODPOVUHNF4M4TWRHAJor pluto.pslib.cz/pichrt/programs/Films/Red%20Dwarf%20-%20Bonus/or www.thereddwarfzone.co.uk/usa.htm...and to address the question I seem to keep reading again and again in this thread, ie, "Why bother to 'Americanize' this great show?"...its simple...as GREAT a show as this is (and it IS truly GREAT!) it simply doesnt translate as a network show over here...too many culture differences (NO ONE I know has a CLUE what a curry is, or a vidalou (sp?), etc.... If it WERE to fly in the mainstream here, it would need some 'culture adjustments'.... But I say 'leave her be', its a wonderful show as is...still, seeing this strange 'other version' is a must for all RD fans! K
