Ok, I admit it, ever since I got into Red Dwarf, Rimmer stood out to me, and he fast became my favourite character. This sparked my liking for Chris Barrie, the actor who plays him. So… I sort of, started a “mission” to see some, if not all, the other shows/movies that Chris has been in. So far I’ve seen his roles/appearances in The Lenny Henry Show, Black Adder and the first Tomb Raider movie (hooray for cable TV, I didn’t have to go to the cinema or hire the DVD/VHS to see it, hehehe ) And very soon I’ll be seeing him in The Brittas Empire – I’ve ordered the DVD of series one from Blackstar. I’ve heard it’s hilarious, so, I’m hoping I won’t be disappointed Anyone else a Chris Barrie fan? Seen anything else he’s been in aside from Red Dwarf?

I think u forget that apart form being an excellent perfomer his first vocation was impressions and he did the majority of voices for a TV series in the UK in the mid 80's to the early 90's called 'Spitting Image'. This was a satirical show with puppet caricatures of the rich, famous, politicians etc.
This was filmed in Birmingham city centre at the Central ITV studios.
When I saw Chris Barrie and Norman Lovett at a Comedy gig in Birmingham in '99, Chris mentioned how nice it was to be back somewhere where he had spent 6/7 years of his life when he got his first break.
That night he also did a few impressions, from what I recall an excellent one of Kenneth Williams from the Carry On films and of Chris Tarrant the UK presenter of Who Wnats to be a Millionaire - every one was in stitches.
He also did a show called a Prince amongst Men ( i think it was called) where he played an ex footballer turned business man - I thought that it was good and he was good in it but it was a flop in the UK.

He is quite tall - and to say it, a charming good looking man in real life, with a slight mischievious twinke in his eyes.
Me and my mate just said hi and we thought that he was fantastic in RD and he took it in good humour.
In the show he did Norman teased him with the Rimmer salute as he went off and chris came on and then chris did it and bought the house down.

Aaw that sounds so cool! ;D I'd love to go to a RD convention one day, actually... doubt that'll happen though... Too expensive... They should all come to Australia... then I might have a one in billion chance of meeting them... ;D

I'd love to go too, but I don't want to turn into some sci-fi freak! What do they do at the conventions?

LOL Red Dwarf is the only closely sci-fi related thing I like... and I really only love it for the comedy and the actors... So I wouldn't consider myself a freak or geek or whatever for going to a convention. I'd only be going for the chance to meet the actors

Have seen him in RD, Brittas, Tomb Raider I and II, and various TV interviews recently. He done an interview last month on UK daytime TV and the first thing the TV host said to him was,
"Damn you Barrie, you're a handsome devil aren't you?"
which I liked very much! ;D
